Melomania 1.75 released

 Download Now     Buy Now     Subscribe

Some people don't like frequent updates, but the absolute absence of new versions is much worse. Thus, after a long and productive work, we're glad to present the new version of our music collection software - Melomania 1.75. As usual, you can get it from Melomania download page.

As we promised earlier, we've implemented the support of another music informational portal - Discogs.com, and this is not the end yet. In the near future we'll implement the support of other popular music-related websites. Internet is full of useful music information, and this is our primary goal to provide you with tools that find and get this information the easiest way.

Now let's view all the changes step by step.

What's new in Melomania 1.75?

  • We have added Dutch localization to the installation package. To learn how to translate Melomania user interface into another language and get a copy of Melomania for free of charge, please read this offer.
  • Internet Finder: the support of Discogs.com is implemented.
  • We have added a possibility to group albums by the first letter of artist name (by alpha).
  • Media Scanner: CUE sheets support is implemented.
  • The FreeDB feature now can work with FreeDB2 servers: by default, if some album can't be found in freedb.org, Melomania automatically searches for it in freedb2.org. The list of servers and their priorities can be altered by user in the Internet | FreeDB options category.
  • Media Scanner: we've added a possibility to load artist photos from tags during the scan process.
  • Media Scanner: the scan process loads data for Audio CD from cdplayer.ini, if available.
  • iPods containing playlists created by iTunes 7.2 are supported now.
  • The Copy To iPod... and Copy To USB Drive... items are added to the Tasks context menu.
  • The Change Location... button is added to the Medium Properties window for quick changing paths of files moved from one drive to another.
  • Update from FreeDB: an option to enable/disable case-sensitive comparison is added to the Update Information window.
  • We have added the support of reading covers and photos from "hybrid" ID3v2 tags (ID3v2.3 + ID3v2.4). Hello Helium!
  • Exportable XML profiles of albums and artists store data in UTF-8 now.
  • Rename files: most recently used templates are saved in the drop-down list for a possibility of future use.
  • Audio CD was determined by Media Scanner as CD-ROM in some cases. Now it's fixed.
  • The Discover function from picture context menu didn't recognize GIF files. Fixed.
  • The process of downloading images from Google might hang up in some rare cases. Fixed.
  • Fixed bug concerning running the software under Windows 9x.
  • Several small improvements have been made and minor bugs have been fixed.

CUE sheets are not audio files, but auxiliary files for FLAC, MP3 and other formats. That's why Scanning | File Types options don't refer to CUE. I think we'll publish an article on how to use CUE sheets with Melomania someday in the future.

Thank you for your answer.
>> Media Scanner can handle such file during the scan
It will be better to explain such feature in detail. Because it is not so clear how the CUE file and listed in files will be separated? And I have not found any refer to CUE in Scanning/File types options.

CUE sheets are text files with ".cue" file extension, containing album track layout. It's used when an audio file contains an entire music album not splitted by individual tracks. Media Scanner can handle such file during the scan process in Melomania 1.75. To learn more about CUE files, you can read this Wiki article:
