Red Roses For Me (1984)Pogues, TheRock The Pogues were one of most radical bands of the mid-'80s. "Red Roses For Me" is their first album. This album demonstrates that the spirit of punk could live in the traditional Irish folk music. All tracks are good and sound rowdy funny. Most of them were written by Shane MacGowan. Also this album contains four traditional reworkings: "Waxie's Dargle", "Poor Paddy", "Greenland Whale Fisheries", and "Kitty". If you have even a drop of Irish blood in your veins, this album will make you dancing in the streets. Excellent. |
