The Forgotten Tales (1996)Blind GuardianRock Blind Guardian is a power metal band formed in 1986 in Germany. "The Forgotten Tales" is not typical their album. It is a collection of covers and alternate versions. Original tracks have been reworked into acoustic and orchestral arrangements. The first track "Mr. Sandman" (The Chordettes cover) starts out gently and ends as full blown speed metal. It is quite unexpected, but sounds great. Among my favorite tracks are "Spread Your Wings" (Queen cover), "The Bard's Song" and "Barbara Ann / Long Tall Sally" (Beach Boys cover). I think this album will hold the interest of most progressive/speed metal fans. |
