Verfall (1996)

"Verfall" is a debut album from the German gothic band Illuminate. Illuminate was founded in 1993 by Johannes Berthold and very soon became an important part of the German wave and gothic scene. Illuminate's music is a mix of gothic and electronic sound. It is more similar to music performed by Inkubus Sukkubus than that by Lacrimosa. Combination of male and female vocals adds a freshness and originality to this album. I like it and I think that this album could be recommended to everybody who likes light gothic music. "Verfall" is a first part of trilogy, which includes the second ("Erinnerungen"1997) and the third ("Erwachen" 1998) albums of the band, and I'm going to listen to them in the near future.
