Oxygene (1977)Jean Michel JarreElectronica It's hard to characterize this album otherwise than as "cult album". "Oxygene" is a template of analogue synthesizer sound, it symbolizes birth of electronic music as independent music phenomenon. "Oxygene" is considered Jarre's first official album - everything he did before haven't ever became popular. This album is a real breakthrough of symphonic electronic music on the whole as well as personal Jarre's breakthrough in a sense of composer progress. This isn't just a sequence of miscellaneous tracks, but a complete work with sole theme and ideology. If you want to feel this album deeply, you have to listen to it from beginning to end. My own feelings are astonishing! The scope and dynamics of this album's sound create the sensation of boundless space, my imagination shows me some distant stellar systems populated with inconceivable creatures. "Oxygene" is an infinite artificial space that exists beyond time. This is an unique work. |
