You Could Have It So Much Better (2005)Franz FerdinandRock Their second album contains everything that I like in Franz Ferdinand - powerful melodies and a striking change of moods. Additionally, there is something new there, something that I didn't heard from Kapranos & Co yet. It's a dramatic ballad, a sentimental romance, a stylish electronics... This really is my choice!
Signify (1996)Porcupine TreeProgressive Rock Several days ago I had listened to Porcupine Tree for the first time, and now this progressive rock band from England is my absolute top #2 favorite (my top #1 is still Dream Theater). I haven't listened to all their albums yet, but currently I consider "Signify" as one of their best albums. Recommended to all prog rock fans.
Emergent (2002)Gordian KnotProgressive Rock This is the second album of instrumental prog rock / jazz fusion project initiated by Sean Malone (formerly known as bassist of Cynic). On this amazing album Sean performs his own music with such prog rock stars as guitarist Steve Hackett (ex-Genesis), drummer Bill Bruford (Yes), guitarist Jason Gobel, and others.
No Wow (2005)Kills, TheRock The Kills is the garage blues duo: Alison Mosshart (vocalist / guitarist) and Jamie Hince (drummer / vocalist / guitarist). The combination of drum machine, odd Jammie's vocal and minimalistic guitar work make their sound unusual. They impressed me. My favorites tracks are "No Wow / Telefone Radio Germany", "At the Back of the Shell" and "Rodeo Town".
Waiting for the Sun (1968)Doors, TheRock This is the third album of the legendary rock band from California.
It was released more than 30 years ago, but, however, Jim Morrison's voice and music by The Doors sound freshly and brightly even today.
All tracks from this album are great, but I want to point at my favorite ones: "Not to Touch the Earth", "My Wild Love" and "Spanish Caravan".
Highly recommended to listen.
X&Y (2005)ColdplayRock After three years of silence, England's top alternative rock band released their next album. Equable and qualitative, "X&Y" does not contain poor songs, except of bonus remixes, which I simply skip to listen.
