Deadwing (2005)Porcupine TreeProgressive Rock "Deadwing" is the recent PT's album based on a film script written by bandleader Steven Wilson. As I expected, the album is good, but in comparison with previous albums, "Deadwing" is less psychedelic and more guitar-driven (two guest guitarists took part in the recording - Adrian Belew of King Crimson and Mikael Akerfeldt of Opeth). The album begins with unusually heavy, metal-styled works "Deadwing" and "Shallow", but from the middle track "Arriving Somewhere But Not Here" it becomes more atmospheric and melancholic like previous PT's albums.
Legendary Tales (1997)RhapsodyRock Rhapsody is a progressive metal band from Italy. Legendary Tales is their debut album. Music from this album is a very good mix of classical music, medieval sound, and heavy metal. Using unusual instruments like harpsichord or clavecin, choir composed of operatic male bass singers and speed guitar passages make sound of this album original and fresh. "Warrior of Ice", "Forest of Unicorns", and "Lord of the Thunder" are my favorite tracks. Great album.
Cloud Nine (1987)George HarrisonRock George Harrison is a participant of legendary The Beatles. In "Cloud Nine" Harrison uses his positive Beatles background and takes advantage of innovation on sounds and songwriting that he had been experiencing during previous years. George had a lot of quality help on this album, including former bandmate Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Gary Wright and Elton John. In my opinion, "Cloud Nine" is the best George's work since The Beatles were broken up.
Ambient Collection (1997)Art of Noise, TheRock This album is a non-stop set of remixes based on earlier works of the band. But this is not just a usual remix set. Each composition contains new feelings and moods, and all of them are interlaced in a sole organic work. Art of Noise never stopped to surprise their fans, and this time they gave all their best to us again.
Programmed to Love (2001)BentElectronica Bent always made good and unusual music, and this time they made music of love. Wide acousic themes, dreamly melancholic vocal, ethnic interweavings - all of this is mixed into ballads of love. In my opinion, they reproduced all the moods, emotions, and feelings successfully. Wonderful relaxing music.
Land of Broken Hearts (1994)Royal HuntRock This is a spectacular debut album of the power metal band from Denmark. "Land of Broken Hearts" featuring with straight-ahead rock with classically influenced melodies. It contains everything necessary to be quality metal work: pushing vocal of Henrik Brockmann, competent keyboard parts by bandleader Andre Anderson and beautiful drum solo by Kenneth Olson. Energetic of "Running Wild", "Fight" and "Kingdom Dark" combined with melody ballads "Age Gone Wild" and "Land of Broken Hearts" make this album great. I very like it.
